How to quickly stand out in your industry

A lot of guys would shit themselves if they had to talk on camera about their skillset for 30 mins.

Not ideal to say the least.

Reason I say that?

I've been a guest on loads of different podcasts... but I reckon the latest one is my best yet.

For 2 reasons.

  1. The more you do the more you learn to answer the same questions better.
  2. The more you do the more you stop the little voice in your head whilst you answer.

And this is why I encourage all the guys in the membership to try and guest on podcasts (or start your own)...

...if you want to grow your business or level of influence.

Not just that but...

- Write a short book

- Offer to give talks at local events or in local businesses

- Create a regular LinkedIn newsletter

- Write for a local publication

Yes it takes time and yes it takes effort...

...and no you don't have to do them all at once.

And you likely wont get paid for it (yet).

But it's about building up a bank of work that serves as a gallery or shop window to others.

Now, if you search my name you'll find not only 144 of my own interviews...

But me being interviewed on maybe 25 different podcasts from people across the world.

And whilst this doesn't mean its a sudden cash cow...

...or mean you suddenly become rich or famous or successful established straight away,

it's expanded my network, given me great ideas, and given me the chance to reach more men.

But why wont more men do stuff like this?

It links to the fear a lot of men have.

And what's that?

'I'll make myself look stupid if I say or do something wrong.'

OR

'People will laugh at me because 'I'm pretending to be an expert guest' on podcasts.'

I understand why those thoughts might come up.

But as the guys in the membership have said before:

You sometimes need to feel the fear and DO IT anyway.

I'd add to that.. maybe the fear is excitement.

Either way it's a a great way to differentiate yourself in whatever industry you are in, or in whatever thing you are trying to grow in.

Any why do I bring this up?

Don't worry, I'm not launching some kind of 'Create your podcast in a week' online course for $999.

What I'm telling you is that (and I'll quote directly from the interview I gave recently)...

“The biggest lever most men can pull is getting around a group of other men who actually want to improve.”

What I meant by that is..

If you come up with decent ideas, and are a member of the Whole Man Academy (2 options, The Spark or The Network) -

We will ENCOURAGE you to take action.

We're not like other men.

We're ambitious, confident, and action takers.

There ex-military, CEO's, consultants, engineers, fitness and health experts, wine experts, authors, and business owners.

And yes, we won't pretend you won't feel nerves, but...

Instead laughing at you, or telling you it wont work, or taking the piss, or just not really understand what you have got in mind...

...we'll say LETS FUCKING DO IT.

And see what happens from there.

I guarantee you it will feel good to be taking action on all that stuff you've been holding back from doing.

My message in all of this?

Trying to improve your life alone is painfully slow.

Men are tribal by nature.

For thousands of years we lived in groups where men:

  • trained together
  • worked together
  • solved problems together

Today most men try to do everything on their own.

Work stress.
Money pressure.
Family responsibilities.
Life decisions.

All carried silently as the days tick by.

But the moment a man surrounds himself with other men who are also trying to grow…

Momentum happens quickly.

As that's why I say it's so easy to change your Trajectory, if you want to.

Btw, if you haven't listened to that podcast yet, do watch or listen.

I've had some good feedback from guys who appreciated my honesty...

...and didn't cry when they heard straight talk or advice on sorting various parts of your life out.

On Friday I'll encourage you to do something most people will warn you against (because they don't understand the power of reverse psychology).

But we don't like to do the same as everyone else because its fucking boring.

Look out for that on Friday at 10am.

Hmmm... Most of the advice aimed at 'ambitious' men says roughly the same thing. Keep pushing for the result you want. Never stop pursuing you dreams. Rest when you’re dead, Mofo. And most of the time, I agree with it to some extent. I mean... I love it when a guy has an attitude where he makes things happen, he is prepared to work hard, to put in the hours to create the opportunities he needs. There's loads of those guys in the membership, either Spark, Network, or Nexus. So I'm all for...

Be honest. Do you love what you do for your career? In fact.. for some...another question would be... ...do you even LIKE it? Now I reckon... ...about 5% will say they love what they do. ...maybe 30% will 'like' what they do ...and the rest are in the lower categories of 'it's ok'. or ' I can't stand it'. I've been in all those categories before, so wherever you stand I'm with you. But on Friday I saw a great example of something we should all be impressed with. I was at the Horse of the year...

I have a deep rooted memory of being out in Turkey on holiday as a kid. My family at some old town market haggling with men over a handbag or wallet or something. They give you some nice Turkish tea and you settle in for a short bartering session that seemed to last for hours. All for the sake of some leather and a few quid discount. For some reason I just hated it. On reflection it's because, as a kid you have zero interest in pissing about in some little market that smells like a camels....
