I've not met a man yet who's living the 'perfect life'. And that's why I called it the WHOLE man... ...because more often than not, you might be doing well in various areas of life... ...but there's something else you want to work on. Or you just enjoy being around other ambitious men and know they will push you on to achieve whatever it is you want to. But when I get asked about me, my life, my wins and losses... and the lessons I have learned... I always go back to some fundamental things I now stick to quite rigidly. Here's a few of them 1) I don't watch the news anymore. I might see something pop up on social media - and maybe once a fortnight I actively log on to the daily mail website to see what utter shite they are peddling (and to be clear that goes for ALL the mainstream media outlets). But like a lot of men I know, we stay away from it all as much as possible In short, it's there to create DREAD and poison your brain and your life... so that's why. 2) I go to bed and get up at rough the same time every day. In the city it was 5.30am wake up but weekends were hung over and getting up about 7-8am. And nightclubs until 3am and 2 hours terrible sleep. It will catch up with you in the end, especially as you get older. These days it's generally a 6am alarm and bed about 10.30pm... in short to keep my body clock from getting confused. That's taken a hammering over the years with 3 little kids, but these days it's more settled. 3) I don't drink alcohol. I reckon it's been about 3 years but I don't keep track. Not to say I won't ever again... but I don't think my body was 'good' with alcohol so I cut it out. Therefore I never have that drunk or groggy or hungover state. (And to be clear I don't want to be pissed when I am responsible for 3 little kids) 4) I plan my weeks with a detailed colour coded calendar. Those who have one job or no kids might not get this... but Emma and I both have businesses to run, 3 kids to home educate, sleep, kids clubs, zoom calls, clients, and all sorts. So if I didn't have a detailed plan of my week it would be a shit show. Last one... 5) I wear barefoot shoes and have done for maybe 4 years can't remember. I found it helped with my back issues and my toes are nicely spread now instead of the 12 hours a day I sat still at a desk with my toes squashed in some tight shoes. So, none of these are exactly groundbreaking... but they work for me. Feel free to ask me questions on any of the above. Anthony Whole Man Academy |

Hmmm... Most of the advice aimed at 'ambitious' men says roughly the same thing. Keep pushing for the result you want. Never stop pursuing you dreams. Rest when you’re dead, Mofo. And most of the time, I agree with it to some extent. I mean... I love it when a guy has an attitude where he makes things happen, he is prepared to work hard, to put in the hours to create the opportunities he needs. There's loads of those guys in the membership, either Spark, Network, or Nexus. So I'm all for...
Be honest. Do you love what you do for your career? In fact.. for some...another question would be... ...do you even LIKE it? Now I reckon... ...about 5% will say they love what they do. ...maybe 30% will 'like' what they do ...and the rest are in the lower categories of 'it's ok'. or ' I can't stand it'. I've been in all those categories before, so wherever you stand I'm with you. But on Friday I saw a great example of something we should all be impressed with. I was at the Horse of the year...
I have a deep rooted memory of being out in Turkey on holiday as a kid. My family at some old town market haggling with men over a handbag or wallet or something. They give you some nice Turkish tea and you settle in for a short bartering session that seemed to last for hours. All for the sake of some leather and a few quid discount. For some reason I just hated it. On reflection it's because, as a kid you have zero interest in pissing about in some little market that smells like a camels....
